Barhams Electronics Multi Brand service centre was founded
in 1968 by Bob and Meryl Barham in the central business area
of Perth and has been a family based Business ever since,
with their son Carl Barham starting in 1978 as a apprentice
becoming a full partner in 1988. Carl’s wife, Sharon Barham,
also became a partner in 1997.
Barhams Electronics Multi brand business had grown greatly
over the years from starting at a small site at 1156 Hay
street and growing to include 1158 Hay street in 1975 and
1160 Hay street in 1998.
Bob and Meryl retired in 1998 and Carl Barham became the
General Manager.
Carl and Sharon Barham established a Sony only service
centre in 2001 at level 1/1 Fitzgerald Street Northbridge
and this quickly grew to take on level 2 as well in 2002.
This shop catered for all domestic and information
technology Sony products and covers 360 sm.
In September of 2004 the Multi brand store closed after 36
years of serving Perth’s community. This decision was made
to stream line the operation and to devote specialist care
on the selected Major brands that were kept on as this is
where Barhams Electronics see there future in this industry.
Barhams Electronics has seen many changes from repairing
valve products to transistor to integrated circuits and now
to Brand specialisation, we have always been ready and
willing to learn the latest technology and adapt to the ever
changing electronic world.
We have the Support of Major high profile manufactures of
state of the art equipment and are regarded as one of
Perth’s leading service centres for their products. From
when cassette recorders were first produced in 1970 Barhams
was one of the first service centres to take on these
repairs being vastly different from valves and turntable
products. At that time many service centres dismissed the
cassette as a gimmick and did not attempt to do any repairs.
These concepts are still happening today with the latest
digital technology in 2000+ that we are servicing. We pride
ourselves to be always ready to take on all new high-tech
products that are produced today and that will appear in the
future. Our company motto is SERVICING THE FUTURE...
Barhams Electronics values its management, office and
technical staff and has a very high standard for all staff
to achieve. We are now servicing three generations of
customers and they come back to us for our pride in our work
and the customer service we give. We are proud to employ
apprentices, this is an area where many other service
companies do not have the same commitment as Barhams
Electronics and do not put any future trained technicians
back into the work force.
From the 1/7/2003 Barhams Electronics formed a company and
began trading as Barhams Electronics PTY LTD.
